Prussia's greatest architect. His National Theatre (Schauspielhaus) in Berlin was designed 1818 in the new, classical, Greek Revival style.

September 1826 the theatre Schinkel's Schauspielhaus one of the world's best buildings gave the Berlin premiere of Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
