Tour de France

Annual bicycle race held in France and nearby countries. First staged in 1903, the race covers more than 3,600 kilometres and lasts 3 weeks.


1st Tour de France was in 1903 organized by L'Auto magazine, had 60 entrants Maurice Garin rode after 2428 Kms into Parc des Princes to win.


Lucien Pothier, a butcher and an amateur, who came in second place was the surprise of the first Tour de France race in 1903.
